WILLIAM “SETH” SAWYER
May 13, 1954 – Aug. 31, 2014
Mr. William “Seth” Sawyer, 60, of Bear Grass and formerly of the Pamlico Beach community of Belhaven passed Sunday afternoon August 31, 2014 at Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday September 4, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor Douglas Knox. Burial will follow in Pamlico Beach Community Cemetery at Ryder Hill. Jimmy Mobley, Noland Wilkins, Aaron Wilkins, Gary Mason, Gene Waters and Alston Manning will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday September 3, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
Born in Belhaven on May 13, 1954 he was the son of the late Ira Bonner Sawyer and the late Elizabeth Ruth Stevens Sawyer. Seth was a graduate of John A. Wilkinson High School. On September 22, 2013 he married the former Jennifer Lynn “Jenny” Sloan who survives. He worked for the N.C Ferry Division for thirty-one years and at the time of his retirement in 2004 Seth was Captain of the Bayview-Aurora Ferry. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church of Bear Grass where he loved attending faithfully. Seth also dearly loved mowing grass.
Surviving along with his wife Jenny of the home is his sister: Teresa Sawyer Huffman and her husband Gary of Belhaven; one brother: Bonner Sawyer and his wife Mandy of Belhaven; half -brother: Donald E. Furman of Blounts Creek; stepson: Thomas H. Jordan of Raleigh; step-daughter: Katherine F. Jordan of Cary; a granddaughter: Lyla Penelope Harrison of Cary; nephews: Timothy Sawyer, Brian Sawyer, Jonathan Sawyer and a niece Danielle Huffman Dudley. Seth was predeceased by a sister: Claudette Elizabeth Furman Kelly and a niece Jessica Dawn Huffman.
