Demons run to first place finish

The P.S. Jones boys’ and girls’ cross country teams outran the competition Tuesday in their meet at Boyd Lee Park in Winterville against E. B. Aycock and Grifton. The outing marked the second ever in the history of the P.S. Jones cross-country program.

Henry Jennings and Sarah Scott Woolard both earned first place finishes for the Demons, with times of 13:04 and 14:05, respectively.

Following Jennings, the P.S. Jones boys’ swept third through seventh place, giving the team a winning score of 19 points. The Demon runners in these top spots were: Graham Parker, Spencer Worley, Tim Anglim, Logan Everette and Stewart Hopper.

In the girls’ race, top performers, along with Woolard, were Jazmin Vega, Fatima Torres, Savannah O’Brien and Sara Spencer. The girls’ team also finished with a near perfect score of 19.

Coach Andrew Ditlevson stated, “I am very pleased with the progress our runners have made from our first meet to our second.  Many took several minutes off of their previous times.”
