PAULINE BRITT CHERRY

Sept. 7, 1945 – Jan. 4, 2015

Mrs. Pauline Britt Cherry (MeMe) went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday January 4, 2015.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday January 7, 2015 at Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Chocowinity, NC officiated by Pastor Henry Horne.  Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Cherry was born in Herford County on September 7, 1945 to the late Paul Albert Britt and Julia Rae Nelson Britt.  On April 19, 1961, she married the man of her dreams, Carlton Ray Cherry.  Left to cherish her memories along with her husband are three beloved daughters:  Elaine Fucito and Darnell Thomas of Greenville, NC; Barbara Dute and husband Jeffrey of South Mills, NC and Susan Anderson of Winterville, NC; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; five sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Cherry had a very big extended family because she knew no stranger.  She would walk right up to someone, introduce herself, give them a big hug and “zap” you were an instant family member.  She loved spending time working in the yard and in her vegetable garden.  She enjoyed sharing her fresh vegetables with family and friends.  She loved fishing and most of the time when you saw her, you saw Carlton, working side by side.  Mrs. Cherry was a member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home located at 566 Possum Track Road, Chocowinity.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be made to Vidant Health Systems, Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice, c/o Vidant Foundation, PO Box 8489, Greenville, NC  27835-8489 or American Cancer Society,  930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC  27834 or Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, P.
