LEWIS “CORBETT” LEGGETT SR.

February 11, 1937 – January 12, 2015

 

Mr. Lewis “Corbett” Leggett, Sr., age 77, a resident of Ridgewood Manor, Washington, NC, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015. Corbett was born in Beaufort County on February 11, 1937 son of the late Ashley and Grace Corbett Leggett. He was married to Betty Hodges Leggett who preceded him in death. Corbett served in the NC National Guard for 44 years and was the owner/operator of Leggett’s Cleaners.

Corbett is survived by his children, Lewis Corbett Leggett, Jr. and wife Ann of Washington and Melody L. Huss and husband Ron of Chocowinity; his brother, Ashley Gray Leggett, Jr. and wife Rebecca of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Shane and Michael Cannon, Dana Steiner and Dusty Radcliff; and four great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life with full military honors will be held at 11 am, Saturday, January 17, 2015 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service officiated by Rev. Greg Ramsey. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Chad Woolard, B. L. Ebron, C. C. Hodges, Clyde Harris, Mike Hodges and Chris DeJong will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 pm, Friday, January 16, 2015 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC.
