MARY HELEN SPIRIDON

Mrs. Mary Helen Spiridon, 98, of Nottingham Village in Northumberland and formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Nottingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 PM on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, 112 West 9th Street, Washington, NC with Father Maloney celebrating Mass. The burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, NC.

She was born on August 1, 1916 in Beaufort County, daughter of the late Mitchell and Zadue Jowdy. She graduated from Washington High School in 1934. After her graduation, she attended Brooklyn College. On November 19, 1939 she married Edward Francis Spiridon who preceded her in death on February 5, 1968. Mary worked at BBH & Company of Wall Street in New York City in their Record Room Department for more than 25 years.

Mary is survived by a sister, Rachel Jowdy Nassef of Washington, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles M. Spiridon and two brothers, Mitchell Jowdy, Jr. and Albert Jowdy.
