EVELYN BARE PARRISH

May 10, 1927 – Feb. 8, 2015

 

Mrs. Evelyn Bare Parrish, age 87, formerly of Maryland and Bath, N.C., died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Cypress Glen Retirement Center in Greenville.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Second Baptist Church, West Fifth Street, Washington followed by funeral services at 2:00 PM.  The service will be conducted by Dr. Phil Hayes.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Badger Funeral Home in West Jefferson, N.C.  Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Laurel Springs, N.C.

The following will serve as pallbearers:  Richard Parrish, Douglas Parrish, Robert Kahoe, Tom Kelly, Billy Braddy and Bernard Spencer.

Mrs. Parrish was born in North Wilkesboro, N.C. on May 10, 1927.    She was the daughter of the late Esau Bare and Minnie Ethel Black Bare.   Mrs. Parrish was a retired military payroll supervisor.  She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Washington, Ladies Circle of First Christian Church in Bath, volunteer at Britthaven Nursing Home and 1996 Volunteer of the Year for N.C. Health Care Facilities Association.

While living in Maryland, she met Warren Coleman Parrish and they married in 1973.  They retired to Bath, N.C. in 1979.  In 2011, Mr. and Mrs. Parrish moved to Cypress Glen.

Mrs. Parrish is survived by her husband, Warren Coleman Parrish of Cypress Glen; her daughter, Donna Lynne Thompson Kahoe and husband, Robert and daughter, Colleen of Bel Air, Maryland; two step daughters, Elizabeth Marshal Parrish of South Carolina, Linda Carol Parrish Kelly and husband, Tom of Mt. Airy, Maryland; two step sons, Douglas Cameron Parrish and wife, Marilyn Braiser of Corvallis, Oregon, Richard Stewart Parrish of Brandon, Florida; one brother, Herbert F. Bare and wife, Elizabeth of West Jefferson, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Lesley Tyler Parrish and Andrew Ryan Parrish.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Harger, in November of 2012.
