Beaufort County Emergency Management is opening an emergency shelter at Southside High School at 5 p.m.
According to Lisa Respess, Beaufort County Emergency Management technician, there are still about 500 Duke Progress Energy customers without electricity in Aurora. The shelter will open at 5 p.m. Respess said anyone who needs transportation from Aurora to Southside High School should meet officials at the Aurora Fire Department at 4:30 p.m.
“There will be a van there to take them to the shelter,” Respess said. “They need to bring bedding, personal care items and an medications.”
No pets will be allowed in the shelter, except for service animals.
