John L. Swindell
Feb. 28, 1947-March 15, 2015
John Lee Swindell was born and raised in Belhaven, North Carolina, where he attended elementary and high school, and graduated from Belhaven High in 1964.
He was active in high school and very popular amongst his friends. After
graduation, John moved to New York City, where he held various jobs. He
returned to Belhaven in the late-1960s, and later settled in Wilson, North Carolina.
John was kind-hearted, easy-going, and patient. He loved interacting with his nieces and nephews and meeting new people. Conversation was one of John’s favorite pastimes, whether chatting with family or peppering people with questions. He was very conscious about his appearance, and enjoyed getting dressed and going out on the town. He had an interest in travel, and enjoyed learning new things.
John was predeceased by his sister, Sarah Swindell, and two brothers, Mack
Swindell Jr. and Bennie Swindell. He is survived by his loving siblings, Dr. Ethel S. Robinson of Syracuse, New York and James Swindell of Wilson, North Carolina. Also left to mourn are nieces Brenda Barber, Wanda Kay Johnson, and Pamela Paulley, nephews Darryl Robinson, Anthony Paulley, Gregory Paulley, and Earl Bernard Paulley, and many grand nieces and nephews. His loss will also be felt by a host of friends at Wellman Rest home. We will all miss John dearly.
