REBECCA S. DAVENPORT

Rebecca Sawyer Davenport, 69, of 925 Beulah Road, Scranton, died Sunday evening, March 22, 2015 unexpectedly at her home.
Born in Beaufort County, on September 13, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Harry Filmore Sr.  and Myrtle Spencer Sawyer.  She was a member of Eunice Chapel Church of Christ, married to Lemmie Wilson Davenport who survives, worked for the Hyde County Public School System in food service.  She was a member of the ladies club at Eunice Chapel and a former member of Hyde County Historical Society.  She enjoyed baking cookies and cooking, volunteered with Hyde County 4-H and was a kind and loving grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eunice Chapel Church of Christ with Thomas Biggs officiating.  Burial will be at a later date.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Susan Armstrong Gray and husband, Danny of Snow Hill and Donna Davenport Hardy and husband Edwin Mitchell Hardy of Greenville; brothers, Harry F. Sawyer, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Washington and Georgie Sawyer and wife, Miriam of Scranton; sisters, Shelby S. Williams and husband, Willie of Scranton, Linda S. Modlin and husband, William of Pinetown, Sandra S, Brooks and husband, Ted of Edenton, Myrtle S. Kirk and husband, Thomas of Belhaven; four grandchildren, April Armstrong Quidley, Victoria Madison Armstrong, Landon Shane Quidley all of Chocowinity and Ira May Hardy IV (Jesse) of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Sawyer and a sister, Agnes Sawyer Gibbs.
