Ms. Terry Jane Rose VanderAa, age 55, a resident of 150 Pungo Run, Pantego, NC died Saturday March 21, 2015 as a result of an automobile accident.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday March 26, 2015 at Union Gove Church of Christ officiated by Scott Askew, Levi Cichorz and Frank Halsey, Jr. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery. Jonathan Halsey, Charlie Respess, Charles Davis, Brent Elliott, Christopher Rose, Matthew Rose, Ron Sawyer, Ray Alonso and David Halsey will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Candace Rose, Ashley Rose Chase, Jodi Rose, Cameron Rose Elliott, Haley Elliott and Taylor Chase.
The family will receive friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday March 25, 2015 at Union Grove Church of Christ and other times at the home.
Terry was born in Beaufort County on April 3, 1959 daughter of the late Joseph Heber Rose, Sr. and Peggy Joyce Watson Rose who survives. She was a 1977 graduate of Pungo Christian Academy and married Arthur VanderAa, Jr. on January 29, 1982 who preceded her in death on August 25, 2002. Terry was a homemaker, caregiver to many and was also self-employed. Family was very important to her and she was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was an active member of Union Grove Church of Christ where she cooked meals for her church family every Wednesday evening.
Surviving along with Terry’s mother: Peggy Rose of Belhaven are her children: Arthur “Artie” VanderAa, III. and wife Tabitha of Jamesville and Pearl VanderAa of the home; two brothers: Joseph “Joey” Rose, Jr. and wife Rita of Belhaven and Christopher H. Rose of Belhaven; two sisters: Sally Respess and husband Keith of Bath and Deborah R. Sawyer and husband Ronald of Kingsland, GA; her father and mother in law: Arthur VanderAa, Sr. and Grace VanderAa of Pantego; three sisters in law: Cyndie VanDyke and husband Alan of Chicago, IL, Jenny Febus and husband Dave of Belhaven and Pam Kirkman and husband Berry Kirkman, Sr. of Camden; two grandchildren: Torri VanderAa and Van VanderAa; a special friend of many years: Linda Davis and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
