Franklin R. Waters

Nov. 10, 1932 – April 5, 2015

 

Mr. Franklin Roosevelt Waters, age 82, a resident of Williamston and formerly of Satchell Road, Grimesland, died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Vidant Medical Center.

Graveside services will be 2 o,n, Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington, conducted by Pastor Travis Boyd.

Mr. Waters was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 10, 1932. He was the son of the late William Asa Waters and Beulah Burbage Waters. Mr. Waters was the retired owner and operator of Waters Brothers Plumbing Company. He served in the U.S Navy where he was a Golden Gloves boxer. Mr. Waters was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In his spare time, he enjoyed his great-grandson, loved animals and listening to politics on T.V.

Mr. Waters was married to the former Shirley Satchell, who preceded him in death in 2009.

He is survived by a grandson, Franklin Lee Cook of Williamston; a granddaughter, Sarah Berger and husband, Daniel of Winterville; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson Lee Cook, Kaylee Nicole Gibbs, Damien Lee Berger and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Waters was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Waters Auton; three brothers, Norris (Buck) Waters, Edgar Waters, James Robert Waters; and five sisters, Dora Louise Waters, Ida Virginia “Ginny” Waters, Helen Baker, Hazel Wilkerson and Katie Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
