OBIT-LUCAS

Mr. Edward Washington “Ed” Lucas, age 83, a resident of 1713 West Fifth Street, Washington, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 11, 2015 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington conducted by Pastor Linwood Lewis and Pastor Stephen Evans. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

The following will serve as pallbearers: James Lucas, Jr., Fred Scales, Ted Fraune, Petey Alligood, Duke Chandler, and Hardy Corey.

Members of Masonic Lodge #675, A. F. & A. M. will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Lucas was born in Erwin, N.C. on January 4, 1932. He was the son of the late Kelly Washington Lucas and Dora Frances Page Lucas. Mr. Lucas attended Erwin High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated Lucas’ Barber Shop for over 50 years. Mr. Lucas was a member of Masonic Lodge #675, past member of the N.C. Grange and member of the Washington Assembly of God.

On October 26, 1955, Mr. Lucas married the former Alene Moore, who survives.

Surviving with his wife are his son, James Kelly Lucas, Sr. and wife, Tammy of Chocowinity; four grandchildren, James Kelly Lucas, Jr., Emily Grace Lucas, Jake Alexander Lucas, Samantha Nicole Lucas and a brother, Donald Glyn Lucas of Dunn, N.C.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lucas was preceded in death by a brother, Aaron Franklin Lucas and two sisters, Doris Verlene Rumlow and Shelta Faye Price.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
