Charles F. Mills

May 21, 1947 — April 9, 2015

 

Mr. Charles Frederick Mills, a resident of Aurora, died unexpectedly on April 9, 2015 at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

A memorial service will be held at Aurora United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11: 00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Reverends Jonathan Mills, Betty Jo Rodgers and Dr. Doug Allen will officiate. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Mr. Mills was born in Washington, North Carolina on May 21, 1947, the third son of the late Jasper Winslow Mills and Fannie Lee Norris Mills.  He was a graduate of Aurora High School and of Atlantic Christian College in Wilson. He retired from Aurora Phosphate Company after 35 years of service. Mr. Mills was known for his math and computer skills, his generosity and his congenial nature. He taught himself to play the guitar and loved many genres of music. He was an active member of the Aurora Church of God where he was an usher and musician. He was always helpful with keeping up the grounds and assisting in any way that was needed. He was an active, compassionate member of the Aurora Rescue Squad for over 20 years.

Mr. Mills is survived by a brother, Jasper Mills and his wife, Leslie; a beloved niece and nephew, Laura Mills Sum and her husband, Ben; and Jonathan Mills, and his wife, Sarah; and two great nephews, Jonathan and Jeremy Mills. He is also survived by numerous cousins and caring friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Norris Mills.
