OLA MAE SLADE

April 26, 1931 — April 18, 2015

 

Ola Mae Slade, age 83, a resident of Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Pantego, NC passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015 Mrs. Slade was born in Beaufort County on April 26, 1931 to the late Johnnie Spencer and Sidney Corrine Young Slade and she attended Beaufort County Schools.

She was married to Dewey Slade who predeceased her. She is survived by her children: James Melvin Young of Washington, NC; Edward Bowland of New York; and Robin Slade of Brooklyn, NY; brothers: Leslie Spencer (Onnie Mae) of Pantego, NC and John Spencer (Minnie) of Jersey City, NJ; sisters: Clara Credle (Vance Slade) of Terra Ceia, NC and Barbara Slade (Jimmy) of Belhaven, NC.

She was a retired factory worker.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son:  Jackie Young and a sister:  Ollie Young.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Macedonia Church of Christ Disciples of Christ, 1488 Swamp Rd., Pantego, NC. Burial will follow the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, NC. The service will be officiated by Elder Donald Peartree, Pastor. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations and other times at her home.
