MONDAY ROUNDUP: Hutchins surrenders just two hits in shutout of North Pitt

BETHEL — Senior pitcher Haley Hutchins tossed seven innings of two-hit softball Monday afternoon in a 7-0 win over North Pitt.
Hutchins, who also homered in the game, struck out 12 batters, bringing her season total to 153.
The Pam Pack combined for 10 hits, including two-RBI performances from senior Allison Brantley and Hutchins. Catie Dority, Chrissy McKissick and Meghan Moore all collected two hits apiece in a winning effort.
With the win, Washington improves to 14-3 (7-2 Eastern Plains) and will close out the season out on Thursday when the team takes on South Central in Winterville.
NORTHSIDE SOFTBALL BLASTS SOUTH CREEK IN FINAL NONCONFERENCE MATCHUP
ROBERSONVILLE — The Northside softball team defeated South Creek (9-9, 8-1 Two Rivers), 14-1, on Monday in a shortened five-inning contest.
Sophomore Rachel Lang picked up the win, pitching all five innings and striking out 11 batters, while allowing just one hit — an RBI double in the third inning.
At the plate, junior Kendall Alligood led the Panthers with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, one that included a double, a home run and a game-high four RBIs. Senior Kelsey Lang went 3-for-4 with a RBI, while junior Mackensi Swain notched a double, a home run and picked up three RBIs on the afternoon.
Taonya Stanley, Alex Adams and Tiffany Oliver all finished with two hits apiece.
With the win, Northside improves to 18-0 (9-0 Coastal Plains) and will close the season out on Thursday at home against Southside (6-7, 4-6 CPC).
NORTHSIDE BASEBALL FALLS TO SOUTH CREEK
ROBERSONVILLE — The Northside baseball team was unable to overcome six early runs in a 7-3 loss to South Creek.
All seven runs came with starter Dalton Etheridge on the mound (3.1 innings), though only five were earned. Etheridge walked four and struck out six Cougars. Adam Cahoon and Zach Griffin pitched the final 2.2 innings, allowing just three base runners (one hit, two walks) and striking out four.
At the plate, junior Chase Sauls led the way with two hits, while sophomore Nick Crisp’s single served as the only RBI for the Panthers on the afternoon.
The loss drops Northside to 7-14 (4-7 Coastal Plains), as the Panthers prepare to face rival Southside in Pinetown on Thursday.
