Mrs. Doris Cuthrell Kerr, age 87, a resident of 178 Washington Harbour, Washington, died Friday, May 8, 2015, at her home.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015, at Oakdale Cemetery and will be conducted by Travis Boyd. Howard Jones, Ron Baker and Earl Ripley will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Kerr was born in Hyde County on Jan. 14, 1928, to the late Carl and “Blanche” Swindell Cuthrell. She was a 1945 graduate of Fairfield High School and was a lifetime member of the Fairfield Christian Church. On Oct. 18, 1947, she married John McCraken “Jack” Kerr Jr., who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1982.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann Ross Kerr of Washington; two grandchildren, Aaron Warner, of Washington, and Angie Kerr of Washington; and two great-grandchildren, Evan Kerr-Brooks and Jackson Kerr-Brooks. She was preceded in death by her son, John Carl Kerr, and her sister, Masil C. Jones.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the graveside service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
