MARY “ROBIN” VAUGHT

Mrs. Mary Elaine Lewis “Robin” Vaught, age 68, of Chocowinity, NC died Monday May 11, 2015 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville.
Robin was born on January 28, 1947 in Beaufort County, NC. In 1961, she met her husband of fifty-two years, Randall Gene Vaught in Newport News, VA. She was baptized on February 1, 1970 at Liberty Baptist Church, Hampton, VA. Robin was a member of First Baptist Church Chocowinity where she served in the WMU, Library, VBS as well as many other ministries.
Robin is survived by her husband Randall, daughter Barbie Lawrence and husband Melvin of Hampton, VA, son Randy Vaught and wife Tracee of Seaford, VA; five grandchildren: Mel Lawrence, Amy Jones, Kristi Lawrence, Landry Vaught, Bethany Vaught and seven great-grandchildren; brother Thomas “Buddy” Lewis and sisters Barbara Bright and Jack Asby. Robin was preceded in death by her parents Shelly Glen and Rena Bell Lewis, sister Gilda Woolard, and brother Julian “Bill” Lewis.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff members of both the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center in Washington, NC and the Vidant Inpatient Hospice Center in Greenville, NC for their outstanding care and compassion extended to Robin and our family during this difficult time.
A visitation will be held Friday, May 15, 2015 at First Baptist Church Chocowinity from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and will be immediately followed by a memorial service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Robin’s name be made to either Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889 or First Baptist Church Chocowinity, 230 NC Hwy. 33 West, Chocowinity, NC 27817.
