Mr. Cecil Byrum Williams, 93, of Pamlico Beach, died peacefully at home, Thursday, May 14, 2015. The son of Mack Hassell Williams, Sr., and Juanita Belle McKinney Williams, he was born May 25, 1921, in Travis, Tyrrell County. Williams grew up in Tyrrell, Hyde, and Beaufort counties. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II at Muroc Army Air Field, Muroc, CA. After his service, he worked as a farmer, commercial fisherman, and millworker, retiring from Weyerhaeuser Paper Company in 1986. He was a long-time member and deacon of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Plymouth, NC, before becoming a member of Sidney Free Will Baptist Church, Belhaven, NC.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Bernice Rodgers Williams of Pamlico Beach, daughter Cecile Williams Rawls and her husband Michael G. Rawls of Greenville, NC, and son Rodger S. Williams and his wife Christine Englert Williams of Ashburn, VA. He is also survived by granddaughters Morgan R. Nichols and her husband Jason of Conetoe, NC; Elizabeth R. Revels and her husband Joey of Williamston, NC; Rachel G. Rawls and her fiancé Stanley Davenport of Bethel, NC; Madeline C. Williams, Leah E. Williams, and Sabrina A. Williams, all of Ashburn, VA; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his caregiver Tina Jones.

The family will receive friends from 5:00–7:00 pm, Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Sidney Free Will Baptist Church, 5580 Sidney Road, Belhaven, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 17, 2015, at Sidney Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 4:00 pm, Windley Cemetery, Roosevelt Avenue, Plymouth, NC.

Flowers are appreciated, but in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pamlico Beach Volunteer Fire Department, 382 Old Pamlico Beach Road W, Belhaven, NC, or Sidney Free Will Baptist Church, 5580 Sidney Road, Belhaven, NC.
