PETRONIA BOOMER SELBY

Jan. 28, 1919 – May 25, 2015

 

Petronia Selby, the daughter of the late Leman Boomer and Addie Mann Boomer was born on February 28, 1919 in Pantego, North Carolina. She was educated in the Beaufort County Schools, and grew up in the Pantego, North Carolina community where she began her mission serving others. Petronia moved to Brooklyn, NY and while being an employee, she earned a degree in the healthcare field.

At any early age, Petronia was a member of the Morning Start Church DOC, and was always faithful. Upon moving to Brooklyn, NY, she became a member of Saint Marks DOC, was faithful and a prayer warrior. Petronia was trained spiritually under Mother Brown at Saint Matthew DOC of Brooklyn, NY.

She returned home in 1972 (Pantego) and became a member of Antioch DOC, which she loved dearly. Petronia was mission minded, supporting the soldiers of the armed forces for more than 30 years, financially and prayerfully. She continued her mission assisting all individuals at Pantego Rest Home.

Petronia leaves to cherish her memory Loretta Selby of Queens, NY, Henry Selby of Pantego, NC, Billy Roger Selby of New York and one sister, Ercie Boomer of Raleigh NC. She had six brothers, six sisters, one son, George Selby, who preceded her in death, grand children, great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and special friends, Ann Slade, Shawn Greig, Hortense Whitney and others.

Petronia will be missed; however she went home to be with her savior.

A celebration of her life will be held on at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2015  at the Alumni Building in  Pantego, NC, officiated by Bishop Freshwater. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00  p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at  Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations.
