SIMPLY AMAZING: Ruth’s House second annual “Our Amazing Race” held on May 30, 2015. The race was patterned after the TV reality show with a few twist and turns. Teams of two used a map and 16 clues written in a riddle form to locate a specific place or location for a challenge. Each team mapped their route and chose the order of the challenges. Once the teams reached a station they were required to complete a set task as a team event or a roadblock, which required only one team member to do the challenge. When the challenge successfully completed they could continue to the next station. The first team reaching the finishing line and receiving the $1,000 cash prize was “The I-V Leaguers,” consisting of Lee Hodges and John Tate IV; the second-place team finishing the race was Washington Fire and Police Services; and team “Harvest Church Mighty Worship Warriors” received a $500 cash prize for raising the most funds for the race. Pictured are the I-V Leaguers (above); Team Vidant Beaufort marking their route (below); and a Pirate searching the “treasure” hidden at the Walmart station (bottom).
