Write Again . . . A very special concert

Mrs. Rebecca Wallace of Pinetown sent me a very nice note back in March, and in it said she felt I might like to read her journal entry for Feb. 25, 2015.
Please let me share what she wrote with you.
“Most everything is covered in ice and snow this morning. In the midst of all this my 11-year-old great-grandson slid and skated to my house. (Of course, he was looking for food.) That accomplished, he went out to the front porch and called, ‘Grandma, Grandma, come here!’
“Having no idea what to expect as I opened the front door he held both hands up in the air and said, ‘Do you hear that orchestra?’
“And I did hear it. I think most of the birds in Beaufort County had gathered in the woods across from my house, and each one was playing its own little instrument.
“Instantly I recognized the conductor — only God could be leading that performance.”
She concluded her note to me by saying, “It might not be great, but it gave me much pleasure writing it.
“Hope you’re having a good day.”
Well, now. I think it’s great. I surely understand how it gave her much pleasure in writing it.
And it truly helped me to have a good day.
Such occasional correspondence from a reader is one of the serendipities of this column-writing endeavor. That someone such as I, with modest writing abilities, has an opportunity on a weekly basis to connect with a reader is something I don’t take lightly.
I mean, shoot, I even appreciate (kind of) readers who may take issue with me on some particular opinion.
Anyway, thank you, Rebecca Wallace, for your nice note, and for sharing your writing with me — and now us.
Your great-grandson sounds like a very special lad.
