JOAN B. WALKER

May 31, 1940 – June 30, 2015

 

Joan Carolyn Bennett Walker, age 75, a resident of 3779 Mary’s Chapel Church Road, Aurora, died Tuesday June 30, 2015 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Thursday July 2, 2015 at Mary’s Chapel Church and will be officiated by Rev. Mike Oliver and Rev. Robert Cayton. Burial will follow in the Cuthrell Cemetery in Aurora. Robert Quinn, John Swain, William Leary, Tripp Leggett, Tyler Votra, and Kenny Asby will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the fellowship hall of Mary’s Chapel following the burial.

Mrs. Walker was born in Beaufort County on May 31, 1940 to the late Rufus Lancaster Bennett and Violet Mae Ferrell. She graduated from Atlantic Christian College in 1962 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics and Business Administration. Shortly after, she married William “Thomas” Walker August 11, 1962. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds. She also loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband Thomas Walker, one daughter Cathy D. Walker, of Aurora, one son William Thomas Walker, Jr. and wife Kim of Chesapeake, VA, five grandchildren, Anna Millard, Tyler Votra, Will Walker, Allison Walker, Joshua Walker, two great grandchildren, Royce Whealton, Kenley Whealton, one brother Charles F. Bennett and wife Jeanette, one sister Adelene Gurganus, many nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
