Robert Mayo Ross

Feb. 7, 1931 – July 1, 2015

Mr. Robert Mayo Ross, age 84, a resident of Elizabeth City died Wednesday July 1, 2015 at Ridgewood Manor in Washington.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Friday July 3, 2015 at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, officiated by Craig Hagen. The family will receive friends at the home of his son, Robert & Cindy Ross located at 311 Robert Jackson Road, Bath, NC.

Mr. Mayo was born February 7, 1931, son of the late Robert Jackson Ross and Elsie Brinn Ross. He married the former Frances Tillet Bonney who survives. Mr. Ross served his country in the US Army. He loved to watch and listen to racing. He loved drag racing, crabbing, farming and was a member of St. Clair’s Church of Christ. Mr. Ross was a building contractor in the Chesapeake area until he suffered a stroke in 1969.

In addition to his wife, Frances, of the home, he is survived by his children: Erma Kay Spence, Kathy R. Riddick and James Bonney (Debbie) all of Elizabeth City and Robert Ross (Cindy) of Bath; his grandchildren: Nancy Ross, Bambi Cox (Miles), J.T. Spence (Kelly), Katie Harris (Danny) and Crystal Riddick Eure and eight great grandchildren.
