Susan Litchfield Perkins, 91, passed away on August 16, 2015 at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay, Sea Level, NC.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, at Ann Street United Methodist Church, Beaufort, with the Rev. Dennis M. Goodwin officiating.

Susan was born on October 30, 1923 in Aurora. She graduated from Aurora High School and attended Louisburg College. During World War II, she was a military teletype operator in Norfolk, VA. After the war, Susan returned to Aurora where she met and married Hugh Foster Perkins. Susan and Foster raised two daughters and lived in Aurora, Plymouth, Hopewell, VA, and Beaufort. She spent many happy summers with family and friends at her beach cottage at Pamlico Beach. While residing in Beaufort, Susan enjoyed working at the Beaufort Historical Thrift Shop and playing in the Ann Street United Methodist Church Handbell Choir.

She is survived by her daughter: Susan Perkins Way and husband, John, of Beaufort; grandchildren: Susan Elizabeth Way, Mary Margaret Way and Christopher Hall Lumsden.

In addition to her husband, her daughter, Pauline Perkins Lumsden; sister, Pauline Litchfield Davis; and brother, Charles Aycock Litchfield, Jr. preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at Ann Street United Methodist Church Eure Building from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Beaufort Historical Association, 130 Turner Street, Beaufort, NC 28516 or Ann Street United Methodist Church Handbell Choir, 417 Ann Street, Beaufort, NC 28516.
