Dr. Will Hoffman is the new superintendent of Tyrrell County Schools.
He earned a doctoral degree in Education and comes to Columbia after a decade in Marshall as a principal and, more recently, curriculum director.
Marshall, on the French Broad River north of Asheville, is the seat of Madison County. The school system there is made up of two early childhood education centers, four elementary, one middle, one high and one early college high school. Average student enrollment countywide is nearly 2,500.
Dr. Hoffman said that, in his first year here, he will be dedicated to listening to members of the Tyrrell County Schools community. “Please know that my door will always be open as we build relationships and continue to establish a trusting and caring environment in each of our schools,” he stated.
His primary goals this year are to ensure high levels of achievement for each child, listen to and involve community stakeholders, and promote district-wide improvement.
“I look forward to working with each of you this year,” the new superintendent said.
Tyrrell County Board of Education members are: Robin Dunbar, chair; Carlos Armstrong, vice chair; Karen Clough, Lee Scripture, and Janie Spencer.
