Chocowinity Primary School students have declared their independence by walking to class on their own, a big step for the younger school students.

While the nation celebrates Independence Day on July 4, CPS’s big day is held in September. Car riders bid farewell to their parents outside the school and then walk to class on their own. The celebration is a longtime CPS tradition.

Staff members greet each child and present him or her with a red, white or blue star to make the occasion.
