EMILY ALBERA GOLD SHOE: Mid-East Commission's Area Agency on Aging received the Alzheimer’s Walk Gold Shoe this year. The AAA staff has been extremely supportive of the walk since its beginning in 2005. Because they created the Gold Shoe, it is fitting that they are finally the recipients of the award. Congratulations to them and to the many participants in the Alzheimer’s Walk and Education Fair who raised $30,000 to help caregivers and to fight the disease. Through Alzheimers NC, all funds will stay in North Carolina.
