The Red Hat Honeys Chapter of the Red Hat Society held its October meeting at Wendy’s in Washington. Those attending included Bernice Cannon, Joyce Carawan, Catherine Fulford, Marian Kozuck, Joan Palmer, Vivian Thompson, Joyce Tucker and Martha Seighman.
Queen Martha called the meeting to order and Bernice gave the treasurer’s report. Vivian won the 50/50 drawing.
Martha read an article from the Washington Daily News announcing our own Shellie Cahoon was named one of the top ten students at BCCC who best exemplify the school’s September character trait — “committed.” Shellie is in the nursing program there, is married, has a daughter Kaleigh and gave birth to son Kadan just days before the classes resumed in August.
We are very proud of our little Pink Hatter and wish her and her family the best. She is much-loved and admired.
Coming events were discussed, including the 10th annual extravaganza in Kinston on March 12 at King’s Restaurant. The theme will be western attire and there will be favors, door prizes and prizes awarded for best-decorated cowgirl hats and stick horses.
There will be an 18th birthday celebration on April 30, 2016, at the Hilton Hotel in Greenville. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing, and prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed hatter with the most bling. Each attendee is requested to bring a $10 wrapped gift in order to receive a gift.
Following the meal and meeting, Martha introduced hostess Joyce Tucker who invited attendees to play games of bingo. Everyone won a prize and door prizes were also awarded.
Martha will be the hostess for the Christmas party and Bernice Cannon will host the February meeting.
The meeting was adjourned following the group singing of “God Bless America.”
