Mr. Sammie Smith Bullock Sr., age 80, a resident of 119 Hillcrest Drive, Washington, died Friday, November 13, 2015 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, November 16, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Washington. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington.

Mr. Bullock was born in Stokes, N.C., on November 22, 1934. He was the son of the late Willie Bullock and Olivia Smith Bullock. Mr. Bullock was a retired Superintendent of Postal Operations for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Baracca Sunday School class and the cooking team for the Sunday morning breakfasts. Mr. Bullock participated in the Relay for Life by barbecuing chicken for their Relay team.  In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and carpentry.

Mr. Bullock was married to the former Margaret Jones, who preceded him in death. Later, he married the former Mary McWilliams, who survives.

Mr. Bullock is survived by his wife Mary McWilliams Bullock of the home; son, Sam Bullock Jr. and wife, Sharon of Salisbury, N.C.; daughter, Alma Kay Woolard and husband, Robin of Laurinburg, N.C.; two stepsons, Phillip and Joshua McWilliams both of Austin, TX; four grandsons, David Austin Woolard of Greenville, N.C., Christopher Scott Woolard of Charleston, S.C., Landon Seth Bullock and Trevor Ross Bullock, both of Raleigh, N.C.; step-granddaughter, Diana Rundell Strohm of Sumpter, S.C.; step-great-granddaughter, Riley Strohm of Sumpter, S.C.; and two sisters, Alma Gustafson of Kilmarnock, VA and Ruby Williford of Rocky Mount, N.C.

Mr. Bullock was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Nell Bullock.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington and other times at his home.
