Mrs. Lillian Christine Waters Alligood, age 94, a resident of 6791 Clarks Neck Road, Washington, died Monday, December 7, 2015 at home surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 12, 2015 in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, December 11, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mrs. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on February 22, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Matthew R. Waters and Lizzie Jane Wallace Waters. Mrs. Alligood graduated from Bath High School in 1938. On July 19, 1942 she married Leslie Gordon Alligood who preceded her in death on February 9, 1997. Mrs. Alligood was a retired sales clerk in retail clothing. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Alligood was a Girl Scout leader and taught Sunday school, she loved meeting people and social events. Mrs. Alligood loved to cook; she was known for her wonderful biscuits and chicken salad. In her spare time she loved working in her flower gardens. Mrs. Alligood was a very strong and organized lady who always tried to do the right thing.

Mrs. Alligood was a member of the Red Hat Club, First Christian Church, Ladies Christian Fellowship Circle and the Keen Age Breakfast Club.

Survivors include her two daughters, Rita A. Fulghum and husband, Richard C. Fulghum Jr., Kim A. Murray and husband, Richard W. Murray Jr.; two grandchildren, Richard Carlton Fulghum III and his wife, Jamey Morris Fulghum, Krista Fulghum Potter and her husband, Allen Linwood Potter; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Alligood was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Wallace and Sidney Woolard, four brothers, Jarvis Waters, Addie Waters, Ottis Waters and Louis Waters.
