Lloyd B. McGowan

Lloyd Bruce McGowan, age 83, a resident of Belhaven, died Monday, January 11, 2016 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, January 15, 2016 at St. Clair’s Church of Christ and will be officiated by Craig Hagen. Burial will follow in the Warren Family Cemetery on Wheat Patch Road.

Mr. McGowan was born in Beaufort County on October 6, 1932 to the late Aaron McGowan and Adelia Fortisque McGowan. He was a 1951 graduate of Bath High School. Immediately following graduation, Mr. McGowan joined the Air Force and remained in service until 1955. On September 5, 1953 he married Janice Marlene Warren and they were married for 62 years.

Survivors include his wife, Janice W. McGowan of the home, a daughter, Jan Hogle and husband Charlie of Houston, TX, two sons, Lloyd Bruce McGowan Jr. and wife Danette also of Houston, TX, James Warren McGowan of Belhaven, four granddaughters, three grandsons, six great-grandchildren and one sister, Myra Jean Winkle of Tampa, FL.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 15, 2016 from 1:00pm until the funeral hour at St. Clair’s Church of Christ.
