Lake Mattamuskeet Birding Day Trip. Visit the Atlantic Flyway, Lake Mattamuskeet National Wildlife refuge, where thousands of tundra swans, snow geese, pintails, ring-necks and widgeons can be found every winter. Day trip leaves from the Estuarium at 8:30 a.m. and returns by 5 p.m. Travel and lunch are included in the registration fee. Seats are limited so reservations are required. There is a $35 fee. “Growing A Fit Community” program, every Tuesday and Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. 150 Swamp Road, Pantego. Healthy Living includes discussion of social issues, including environmental, Spanish and English teaching, juicing, line dancing and exercise classes. All interested seniors, call 252-943-3822.

Artist and instructor Carolyn Sleeper returns to teach a class on stoneware baskets at the MATTIE Arts Center, 10 Oyster Creek Road, Swan Quarter. Enrollment is open now. Call 252-943-8991.

Riverside Gospel Sing every Saturday night at 7 p.m. Located at Riverside Camp Grounds, U.S. Highway 45, Ponzer. Snack bar with hotdogs, popcorn, candy and drinks available. Free admission. The program will feature The Joys of Virginia Beach and Sarah Hardison Harris of Williamston.
