The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from noon Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday.

The locations most affected are along and north of U.S. Highway 264 East. Snow accumulation is expected to be up to 1 inch over the course of Saturday evening.

Icy spots on roadways, bridges and overpasses will be possible across the area on Saturday and into Saturday night, leading to hazardous driving conditions.

Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
