Mrs. Jean S. Cooper, 95, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Cypress Glen.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 26 at 2:00 pm in the First United Methodist Church of Washington.  Burial will be held in Myrtle Beach, SC at a later date.

Mrs. Cooper lived in Rockville, Maryland for many years before retiring to Myrtle Beach, SC. A military wife, Jean was a member of Ocean View Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir and the community chorus. She was an avid golfer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Martin W. Cooper, and a son, Stephen Cooper.

She is survived by her: sons, Michael Cooper and wife, Elin, of Fremont, CA and Richard Cooper and wife, Janet, of Washington; daughter, Sandra Detmer, of Silver Spring, MD; daughter in-law, Norma Cooper, of Derwood, MD; grandchildren, Kirsten Jones, Derek Cooper, Kendra Ratliff, Shawn Detmer, Ross Cooper and Megan Cooper; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
