William Christopher Butt, 74, of Charleston, SC, died Saturday, December 19, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Bowman Butt; his four children, Mary Louise Butt, Margaret Butt-Koger (Robbie), William C. Butt Jr., Jennifer Ferrell (Walker); and six grandchildren, all of Charleston. Bill was born on June 17, 1941 in Columbia, SC, son of the late W. Harold Butt and Mary McLure Butt. He retired from Dupont and was an active volunteer with the Coastal Carolina Council of the Boy Scouts of America for over 20 years. Bill was a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, a Board Member of the Coastal Boys’ Council, a multiple James E. West Fellow and a Friends of Scouting Spirit of the Eagle Club contributor, a Silver Beaver Award recipient and an Eagle Class Honoree. He was instrumental in the restoration of “The White House” at Camp Ho Non Wah. He also volunteered with the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition for over 20 years. All services were private and held at a later date.
