The Tea & Topics Book Club met at lovely Yankee Hall on Thursday, Jan. 21, hosted by Pat Litchfield. After a delicious meal, members were treated to a special visit and program by Paul Credle, native of Washington, and now residing in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Paul is the grandson of Nellie Miles Paul, a member of the club who joined in 1937, shortly after the club was founded in 1936.

Nellie Miles Paul was affectionately known as the “Poet Laureate” of Washington. During her lifetime, she wrote over 280 poems. Paul presented a booklet he complied to each member with biography, history and “spirited poems” written by Nellie for the club. Paul reminisced about his days growing up in Washington and provided stories enhanced by the history of those days. Members thanked Paul for introducing the poems of a very talented and gracious lady, Nellie Miles Paul.
