Neil Franklin Woolard, age 65, a former resident of Isabella Ave., Ext., and a recent resident of Autumnfield Rest Home of Belhaven, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at Autumnfield. Neil was born April 17, 1950 to Edna Respess Woolard whom survives and the late R. Frank Woolard. He attended Beaufort County Schools and was a graduate of Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. Neil was a retired technician with Honeywell in Hopewell, Virginia, and lived most of his adult life in Hopewell. He was a life-long member of First Christian Church in Washington, North Carolina, where he was an active member as long as his health permitted. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing and culturing plants.

In addition to his father R. Frank Woolard, he was recently predeceased by one brother-in-law, Wayne Blanks, and one nephew, Wyatt Blanks. Surviving in addition to his mother, Edna R. Woolard, are two sisters, Diane W. Smith (Glenn) and Loretta Blanks, all of Washington, and one brother Jeffrey Thomas Woolard (Kay), also of Washington. Other survivors include four nephews and one niece.

A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Dr. Jacob Kinds officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations and other times at the home of his mother, 207 W. 12th St., Washington. Flowers are welcomed or memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 401 E. Second St., Washington, or The Beaufort County Humane Society, P.O. Box 8, Washington.
