Mr. James William Swanner Jr., age 69, a resident of 2226 Wheat Patch Road, Belhaven passed away March 3, 2016.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM on Sunday March 6, 2016 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington officiated by Rev. David Young. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Neil Boyd, Wade Biggs, Mark Boyd, Brian Reason, Mark Bowen, Larry Boyd, Wayne Woolard and Kenneth Barber will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM on Saturday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home.
Jimmy was born in Beaufort County on December 1, 1946, son of the James William Swanner, Sr. and Marion Darnell Whichard Swanner. He was a graduate of the 1965 Class of Bath High School. On August 6, 1966, he married the former Brenda Lagcher, who survives. Jimmy retired from Weyerhaeuser in 2005 and MidEast Flower Distributors in 2015. He was recognized by Plymouth Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year. Jimmy was a member of Five Points Free Will Baptist Church and served his country in the Army Reserve.
In addition to his wife, Brenda of the home, he is survived by his son: Kevin Swanner and wife Gina of Bear Grass; his daughter: Pamela Williams and husband Layne of Greenville; his grandchildren: Tanner Williams, Blake Swanner and Lauren Williams; his brother: Michael J. Swanner and wife Linda of Bath and his nephews: Joey and Michael Swanner. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandchild: James Kendall Williams.
Heaven gained an angel, an incredible man, father and a loyal friend to many. He will be missed!
