JOHN REASON 

Mr. John Baker Reason, age 82, a resident of Black Road, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital. Mr. Reason was born in Martin County on August 10, 1933 to the late William Sam Reason and Lena Baker Reason. He attended Martin County Schools and on October 4, 1952 he married the love of his life, the former Helen Williams who survives. Mr. Reason was a retired forestry department equipment operator for Weyerhaeuser for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, grilling out, word search puzzles and loved spending time with his family. He was also a faithful member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one daughter, Debra Faye Reason, and one son, Kenneth Wayne Reason. He was also predeceased by three sisters and five brothers.

In addition to his wife Helen Williams Reason he is also survived by three daughters, Sharon Reason Bright of Chocowinity, Tina Louise Reason of Grifton, NC, and Ashley Nicole Pritchett of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by two brothers, Robert Reason of Texas, and Dexter Reason of Williamston, NC, and three sisters Mildred Campbell, Mary Lou Dew and Carolyn Sawyer, all of Plymouth, NC. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, John Kenneth Reason, Keith Allen Reason, Robert Edward Reason, Stacy Jean Woolard, Donna Faye Jackson, Anthony Michael Furman and Travis Lee Huggins. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Maria, Brandon, Dylan Price, Hunter, Lana, Logan, Rowan, Seth and Dylan Furman.

A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 pm Friday, March 18, 2016 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Tony Krantz officiating. Music will be provided by Phyllis Downey and Tony Krantz. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations and other times at the home.
