Mrs. Clara Louise Corey Manning, 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 26, 2016
A graveside service will be held on Monday at 2:30 PM in Pinewood Memorial Park with her pastor, Rev. Walter Taylor, officiating.
Clara was born and raised in Pitt County. She married the love of her life, Mr. Vernon Manning, in 1940 and they were together for 47 years before his passing in 1987.
She was also the last surviving sibling of several brothers and sisters.
She was employed by Fieldcrest Mills for many years before working for Burroughs Wellcome and retiring from there. She was a gracious homemaker who loved gardening and her flowers. She enjoyed craftwork, making dolls and loved to travel with family and friends, especially to the mountains. Clara was a devoted caregiver to her mother for many years, being with her every day.
She is survived by her: daughters, Betty Wall and husband, Charles, of Greenville, and Brenda Foster and husband, Charles, of Belhaven; grandchildren, Charlene Worthington and husband, Ken, Charles Wall Jr. and wife, Michelle, Chuck Foster and wife, June, and Joanna Slade and husband, Eric; and 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends before the graveside service from 1 to 2 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Golden Living Center and Aseracare Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. Flowers are welcome or donations in Clara’s memory can be made to Maranatha Free Will Baptist Church, 1407 E. 14th Street, Greenville, NC 27858.
