From the City of Washington
As part of the state-required regular maintenance of Washington’s water distribution system, the city will be feeding free chlorine into the city’s water system from Monday through May 23. Some customers might notice a slight increase of chlorine taste and odor.
Fire hydrant testing will also take place the week of May 23. Testing will involve flushing water from fire hydrants. Water consumers may notice some cloudiness in your tap water during the testing period due to sediments floating in the water lines. The discoloration is harmless and will clear up after a short period. Anyone with questions about either of these events should call the Public Works Department at 252-975-9302.
