Preston Alexander Cutler, age 85, a resident of Washington, died Monday, May 16, 2016 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and will be officiated by Chris Hux, John Winfield and Allen Quain. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Preston Glenn Cutler, Jr., Charlie Vernon Cutler, Scott Winfield, Joshua Quain, Joel Quain and Alexander Preston Cutler will serve as pallbearers. John Keith Clark, Dennie Smith, Kevin Roberson, Issac Boyd and Luke Cutler will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Cutler was born in Beaufort County, NC on October 10, 1930 to the late Charlie Edward Cutler and Elizabeth Jane Latham. He was a 1949 graduate of Bath High School. On June 21, 1949 he married the former Ophelia Faye Waters who survives. Mr. Cutler was great baseball player, and played in the Beaufort County Baseball League. He was also a hunter and a tobacco farmer. He attended Athens Chapel Church of Christ and was an honorary member of the Bath chapter of the FFA.

Survivors include his wife Ophelia W. Cutler of the home, four children, Preston Glenn Cutler of Washington, Glenda Cutler Winfield and husband John of Pinetown, Elizabeth Cutler Quain and husband Allen of Orlando, FL, Kevin Alexander Cutler and wife Katherine of Bath, eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Bradley, and a cousin who he considered his sister, Ann Cutler Williams.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 1:45pm Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
