Mrs. Brenda Carol Cherry Taylor, age 68, a resident of 1694 West 5th Street, Washington, died Monday, May 23, 2016 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Snowd Branch Church of God, officiated by Pastor Jack Holloman. Burial will follow in Snowd Branch Cemetery. Christopher Woolard, Gary Woolard, Charles “Woody” Taylor, Walt Alligood, John Davis and Bill Cherry will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Snowd Branch Church of God and other times at the home.

Mrs. Taylor was born in Beaufort County on November 27, 1947, daughter of the late Charles Leon Cherry and Margaret Gold Evans Cherry who survives. She was a graduate of Washington High School. On August 30, 1968 she married Claud James Taylor who survives. Mrs. Taylor’s caring spirit and her love for children led her to her career as owner/operator of Mrs. Brenda’s Home Day Care, which she enjoyed for thirty-five years. She was a member of Snowd Branch Church of God where she was a Sunday school teacher, played the tambourine and sang in the choir. Mrs. Taylor’s priorities were her family, her church and the needs of others.

Surviving along with her husband: James Taylor of the home and her mother: Margaret E. Cherry of Washington are two daughters: Cherry Taylor and her fiancé Joseph Smith of Washington and Beth T. Trgovic and her husband Peter of Winterville; two sisters: Margaret Ann Beddard of Greenville and Debra Lilley of Chocowinity; four grandchildren: Rachel Roberson, Olivia Roberson, Nikolas Roberson and Parker Harris and a great-grandchild: Jaden Roberson. She was predeceased along with her father by a sister: Janet Sherrod.
