From Washington-Beaufort County Board of Realtors

On May 25, Washington-Beaufort County Board of Realtors had their second quarter membership breakfast meeting at Grub Brothers restaurant, located on Main Street in Washington. After the meeting, members went next door to the Turnage Theatre where we sponsored a Beaufort County commissioner candidates’ forum for our members as well as the public. Newcomer candidates were Jerry Evans (a realtor) and Derik Davis. Incumbents were Hood Richardson, Gary Brinn and Robert Belcher. Two other candidates who were unable to attend were Jerry Langley and Greg Satterthwaite.

WBCBR President Bobby Clark opened the forum by welcoming the attendees and introduced Tomp Litchfield, who in turn introduced the candidates as well as forum moderator Jim Chesnutt. Each candidate was given the opportunity to make an opening statement about his candidacy platform. After that, each of them was asked a round of different questions related to county issues. There was one question asked from the audience that each candidate had the opportunity to answer. At the end of the questions and answers portion, the candidates were given time to make closing statements.

We received high reviews from those attending and requests were made to sponsor another forum in a couple of months.
