The Down East Seniors Club held its June 29 meeting at the Blind Center of North Carolina in Washington. President Ed Hamrick led the meeting. Hamrick led the singing of “God Bless America,” and Ed Bolen gave the invocation. Dick Paul provided humor.

Member Mark Eakes presented Dan Wagner, a retired former member of the CIA. Dan provided a program about genealogy, in which he told about his family, their history, and resources used in his research. Dan’s family history on his father’s side included both German and Russian influences that included brother facing brother in World War 1. Descendants migrated to Canada, where Dan has attended a family reunion. His mother was a coal miner’s daughter from Illinois. He has traced her side of the family to the founders of Jamestown, the Revolutionary War and personal associations with George Washington. Dan’s presentation was very interesting and informative.

Ed Bolen won the 50/50 drawing.
