Jonathan Britt Smithwick, 97, of U.S. Highway 17 North, Merry Hill, died Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Chowan River Nursing and Rehab Center, Edenton. A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Merry Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Nixon officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends following the service in the church’s fellowship hall and at the home of Amelia Davenport, 2216 U.S. Highway 17 North, Merry Hill. Arrangements are by Walker Funeral Home, Windsor.
