Millie Pate Stubblefield

Aletha “Millie” Pate Stubblefield, age 79, a resident of Pamlico Riverside Drive, Belhaven, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at her daughter’s residence in Winterville, NC. Millie was born in Martin County on January 24, 1937 to the late Elva Manning Pate and James Edwin Pate. Millie attended the Martin County Schools and Greenville Beauty School. After beauty school she also received her advanced training under Harrell’s Hair Design. She owned and operated Millie’s Hairstyling in Washington until her retirement. Millie had a special love for her animals, Daisy and Marcie. She also enjoyed sitting on her porch looking at “her” river, The Pamlico. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by one son, Gregory Stubblefield, and two sisters, Marie Perry and Gaynelle Latham. Survivors include one daughter, Laura Lee Potter and husband John of Winterville, NC, and one son Edwin Harry Stubblefield II of Greenville, NC. Other survivors include three sisters, Avis Wainwright of Jamesville, NC, Linda Mihalcoe of Lanexa, VA, and Jean Rogers of Everetts, NC; two granddaughters, Madison Potter and Mackenzie Potter of Winterville, NC; three grandsons, Joshua Potter and wife Tracey of Grimesland, NC, Nicholas Potter and David Potter, both of Winterville, NC. A gathering of friends and family in celebration of her life will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Hillside Funeral Service and other times at her daughter’s residence, 1602 South Oak Lane, Winterville, NC. Flowers are appreciated, as are donations to the Pamlico Beach Volunteer Fire Department, 382 Old Pamlico Beach Road, Belhaven, NC 27810. Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E, Washington, has been given the honor of being entrusted with serving the Stubblefield family.
