Mae Weaver (Mae Jack) Piland, 96, formerly of Norlina, died on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at her home in Bath, NC. She was born in Norlina, NC, the daughter of the late John Park and Essie Weaver Williams.

She graduated from Norlina High School and attended Meredith College.

Mae Jack married John Eldridge Piland on December, 24, 1941, and he died in 1991. She was also predeceased by a sister, Juel Williams Duke and a brother, Lee Williams, both of Norlina, NC.

She is survived by her children, Joan Rudders and husband, Richard, of Barnstable MA, Jack Piland and wife, Thelma Gene, of Bath, Reg and wife, Dianne, of Oriental, and Jim and wife, Mary Ellen, of Belhaven; her brother, J.P. Williams of Norlina; her sister Linda Ann Edwards and husband, Charles, of St. Petersburg, FL; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Mae Jack’s 2 caregivers and also to Vidant Hospice care.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3rd at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath, with burial at 4:00 p.m. at Warrendale Cemetery in Norlina, NC.
