Mr. Isaac Gearhart Edwards, age 97, a resident of Chocowinity, died Monday, August 8, 2016 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30pm Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville and will be officiated by Pastor Joe Ange. The following will serve as pallbearers: Scott Clark, Matthew Futrelle, Joe Clark and Donald Hodges. Honorary pallbearers include: Rusty Carrow, Douglas Branch, Snody Carrow and Bill Clark.

Mr. Edwards was born in Beaufort County on February 16, 1919 to the late Lazarus Bryant Edwards and Eula Dennie Hill Edwards. On September 8, 1953 he married Blanche Hodges who preceded him in death on January 15, 2007. He served in the United States Army during World War II. While serving in the Pacific Theater of WWII he received a Purple Heart. Mr. Edwards was a member of the VFW + DAV of Washington. He was a regular member of Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Chocowinity. Mr. Edwards spent a lifetime in Beaufort County as a farmer.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia “Ann” E. Clark and husband Tommy of Chocowinity and two grandchildren, Stacey C. Futrelle and husband Matthew of Charlotte, Scott Clark of Greenville, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Blanche Edwards, an infant brother and a sister, Mrytie Edwards Grissom.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00am until 11:30am Wednesday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
