The Rev. Faye Baines Rouse, 79, of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016. She was a retired pastor in the United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Rouse was a native of Enfield, N.C., daughter of the late Offie and Kathleen Baines. She graduated from the Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1959 and, later in life, the Divinity School at Duke University.
She served as Methodist pastor at churches in Riegelwood, Garner, Hertford and Chocowinity.
Her survivors include a daughter, Jane R. Ellison, and husband, Lucien C. Ellison, and their sons, Jack, Archie and Baines, of Wilmington, NC; a son, David C. Rouse, and wife, Jennifer, and step-son, Kevin, of Goldsboro, NC; and a brother, Thomas O. Baines, and wife, Marianne, of Greenville, NC.
Mrs. Rouse loved to spend her time serving others and making her family feel like the most perfect humans on earth. She loved butterflies, seagulls, doves, reading, playing cards, and most especially loved her family without abandon. She had the rare gift of only seeing the good in people. She left this world knowing that her family would “bunch,” have a “happy service,” and celebrate her wonderful life.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 South College Road, Wilmington, NC 28412, followed by visitation at 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Rouse directed that her body be donated for medical science.
In lieu of flowers, please direct donations in her memory to Eagle’s Wings Food Pantry, PO Box 426, Washington, NC 27889.
